The End Is Near!
The end is near! Am I nervous about graduating? Yes and no. Yes because I am afraid that I am gonna slip at the last possible minute and mess up and screw up my entire future because of one fatal mistake right at the end. I am also not afraid because I am confident that in myself and my ability to finish, I am on pace to graduate and I cannot wait to walk on stage and get my diploma in front of all of my friends and family. I am also very excited because my brother is supposed to be coming from New Mexico for my graduation and I have not seen him since my sophomore year. So far in preparation for post-graduation I have made plans to go to the military I have chosen to wait until I turn 18 in October instead of leaving right after graduation at 17, I have also decided that I will be joining the Army to become a paratrooper and maybe even a combat medic but with my high ASVAB scores I could do anything I want. I plan on serving four years, reflecting on my experience, and if I am okay with it, then I will serve 20 years and retire at 38 years old.
So far I still need a few community hours, I need to finish my wood shop project for my career pathway, and then do my senior exit interview and then I am all set. I am looking forward to not having any more assignments for a while and no more stress of grades and no more classrooms, and my class ring, however I do know that when I go to the military it will all be back again but way more intense, but only for 4 months during basic training. I am also looking forward to the new experience the military will bring me and the places I will see and what countries I will be stationed in. Wherever I go I hope I get stationed with my friend Alex too. I am also looking forward to being able to spend some time doing whatever I want to and not have to worry about school the next day. Another thing I am looking forward to is spring break, my older sister Laci, my brother-in-law, and my baby nephew are coming down from Santa Maria and my sister Cierra is coming to visit for Easter.
I am grateful for a lot of things reflecting back on this year. First off, I am grateful that I got to play for Coach Mendonca, as a coach he has taught me a lot about pushing myself, humility, and being humble. While playing football, I was pushed to my limits and was able to go beyond them. Playing football also gave me an outlet where I was able to let out any pent up anger, sadness, or frustration out on the field and not get in trouble for it. As a coach he believed in me even when myself did not. Even after I was told by my doctor that I would not be playing football anymore this year because of my concussions, he still treated me like a member of the team even though I couldn’t wear the pads. Another thing I am grateful for looking back is my english teacher Mr. Gonzales, even though we did not get along in the beginning, I learned that he was very understanding and is willing to work with his students which is something that not all teachers care to do. I am grateful for my mom because no matter how much I doubted myself because of the stress of senior year, she has always been there when I need to talk or when I need help with school or anything else.
